E is the magic number Size: 177 (w) x 81 (d) x 203 (h) Weight: 1.6kg+ Shutter edition 50 each individually hand painted, no two colour ways are the same Signed and numbered by Ben Eine release date: December 5th 12. pm GMT
Sorry 'holic, I don't mean to be running down your piece. I've been constantly perplexed by this "art scene" lately and this fella pushed me over the edge.
No offense ;-) trying to bridge world's here for this guy and a 50 pieces run all different & hand painted the price doesn't shock me And exchange rate from £ to $ doesn't help
The whole thing about street art is accessibility. If you got a spray can and some cojones you can do it. I mean the very core of it is that everybody can do it, the poorest of the poor. Art has historically been for rich old people, and street art opened it up to poor young people. Somehow the jump from street to shop completely mutates that and turns $50 of resin into $775. I guess it must be real art now.
I think his street art is pretty awesome really. But all the translations of that to prints or anything else I've seen don't work for me. It's not that he revolutionized the way pretty letters are drawn. People have been drawing pretty letters for centuries and Eine isn't close to the best. But he put giant ones on the sides of buildings in compelling and unusual ways, and that's why it was worth looking at.

$775. $775 for a Hobby Lobby decorative E. I can't believe how pissed I am at this. Get the whole alphabet for $20K.

I didn't know they were hand-painted. That's not bad. Still a lot of money.

I guess if I tell you that there is a limited edition of 5 glitter ones for over a grand you're gonna have a hart attack?
