Well its the yellow submarine from the Beatles song right? Perhaps its artistic origins give it some right to be here? I wouldn't add it to my collection, but I'm not a Beatles fan. Though the quality doesn't look that great from this photo..*shrug* I think it -may- be questionable, but not one step away from McDonald's toys.
I'm not a huge fan but I know the history of the band and it's designs, but still I think it's a wind-up music memorabilia toy more then a designer toy. The porpoise of this toy (as it seems) is to be play with and not to be "admired" as a piece of art, I think it's plastic not vinyl and the quality (again as it seems) is not high and more fit to a child mess produced "made in China" toy.
There was bunch of mainstream toys added recently. Most of them are not fit into designer vinyl genre, but most of them are amazing pieces aesthetically. I changed the type to Character toy — http://rotocasted.com/library... I think it's good to have it here.
There are lots of action figures on here that's for sure, especially Japanese mass produced toys. its not a "designer toy" just because it's not in the mainstream stores where you live
Are there any guidelines on what toys you want and what toys you don't want here? I have a lot of toys that are lovely, but don't fall within the category of designer vinyl and I'm not sure if I should add them or not.
@larzor: No not yet. At this moment we're adding everything that people would collect with their vinyl. Some time in 2011 we will split the website to several directories.
I used to have the original version of this when i was a child. It was made from die-cast metal, wasn't a wind up but a push a long toy. The periscopes revolved when you pushed it along, and two hatches could open up with the Beatles popping their heads up :)
Thanks Sergey for the info on Heinz Edelmann, I didnt know his history, very interesting! :)
