I have these (plus a white version), but I didn't buy them from that site and I got mine a bit cheaper than he sells them for (about 1/3 of that price). The quality is not bad at all.
-
hi larzor can i check where you got it from? thanks.
-

I bought them from Taobao. It's like chinese ebay, so just search for kaws and you should find a bunch of them. I bought them through the agent Yoybuy (since I don't know chinese and most Taobao-sellers don't ship to Sweden).
Hope this helps! :) -

ha, i never knew ure swedish!! i live in stockholm , not much of a scene for toys here that i've been able to find
-
Yeah, it hasn't really caught on in Sweden. I think you might find some overpriced and not-so-interesting stuff in some clothing stores, but I feel that the internet provides me with most of what I need. I'd love the opportunity to ogle stuff that's out of my price range, though…

shipping nearly always makes me weep!! maybe im spoilt tho, i was in london b4 here!

cool thanks

raph, np
misterquiche, I don't really think it's that bad. I just think about what the toy is worth for me and add the costs up. Sometimes the shipping is outrageous, but from eBay and some online shops it's fairly reasonable.
I would love for the opportunity to visit irl shops dedicated to vinyl toys though. Must be like going to an awesome museum. -
13 years ago
yeah the feeling of being able to browse a store is sooooo nice, i used to find things that when seen online i thought meh, but once seen in person were must haves. that may be what makes it more upsetting for me!!! If you're ever knockin round Stockholm n want to meet up n chat toys, just holler ;)

I love love love this one!!! You can find him easy because you can here the gum balls when you shake the box. Though people at a shop might look at you funny when you do. lol By the way it's even cuter in person. Awwww.

Shaking the blind boxes? That's just the tip of the day! LOL

There was a lot of shaking going on last night, you can't tell the difference between the gold and red ones by shaking though ;)
-
I suppose you are correct jazzydan... wonder if that means I will end up with a bunch of the red ones at some point. LOL.
-

Nothing wrong with that, an army of these will look super cool.

I remember seeing a custom dunny with the same idea a few years ago and it was the first custom dunny I ever really wanted, so it's really cool they made an official one like it
-

Just got it but I'm surprised the body is not vinyl. Why do you think they did that? Also, can't decided whether to stick the 25¢ sticker on.
-
I was surprised that that was a sticker and not printed on, but I really like the look of it, so I put it on immediately after I opened mine.

Jen - the Dunny head at least is not vinyl because it's almost impossible to mass-produce vinyl to be that clear and even.
I have no idea why the body and hands are ABS too -
-
Yes, it was the body I was questioning. Thought I'd bought a fake at first, just felt weird.
-
Hmm ABS is cheaper to mass produce, I wonder if they are slowly moving over? Do a few pieces in ABS and see peoples reaction?
-
yeah let's rename it to designer abs toys. bring vinyl back!
-
This is my very first Dunny. Still haven't put on the sticker. Scared I'll mess it up.

Sometime this year we have to decide what to do with all the action figures and character toys.
-
-
and keychains and zipper pulls please:)
-

Stop hatin' on keychains! :P
-

keychain=accessory :P
-
Qees have keychain attachments so they can be worn as accesories. Your point is moot.
-
is not. they come unassembled, so keychaining qee is an option. you can wear almost anything as a keychain, but you wouldn't put in your toy collection. and the point was that this revoltech is much more a collectible toy than a keychain.
-
I think a debate could go on for ages about what can be deemed a toy suitable for Rotocasted, but I thought Rotocasted started for collectible toys i.e. art toys and designer vinyl. I wouldn't class this figure as either. It's an anime related action figure, which I class as something completely different... but then again, the 'Type' tag is there to differentiate between all the toys and their kind, so I don't see why all toys can't be on this site as long as their correctly tagged as whatever kind of toy they are. I was just saying about the keychains thing, because everyone by now is probably aware of my slight Yummy Breakfast addiction, and although it is a keychain, I see them as mini art toys, because of their humble beginnings as Heidi Kenney's handmade felt creations. Then obviously Kidrobot got involved and saw the potential to bring her creations to a wider audience.
I just clicked on the 'Keychain' tag to see what else I can make examples of, and although I can't stand Kaws, the keychains of his are in a way, shrunk versions of his actual art toys, which is pretty good for people who can't shell out hundreds for one of his proper figures. Anyway, I could write all day about this, but I think I've got my point across. -

So how would you all classify my custom 1 of 1 Elissa Shutak action figure that I paid someone to make me?

The problem is some things should definitely be on here and some things definitely shouldn't, and then there are a lot of of things that maybe could be on here. But once you put the grey area stuff, then the things that shouldn't be here start appearing.
Am I making myself clear? :p
I, for one, think mascots and advertising figures are a definite no no. Others are strictly against toys of characters from movies or comics. It gets complicated.
The toy world itself is pretty ambiguous and we've been having this discussion in different forms for a while. -
-
Isn't the whole movement a little bit of a grey area? The whole idea is to find the essence of toys and make art with that essence in mind, if I understand it correctly and if you don't accept toys as art you've kinda missed the point and it's all about wether or not some one tells you it's a cool, rare and expensive piece rather than up to your own tastes. Of course this makes it impossible for me to objectively dismiss toys that I personally don't like…
There are a lot of things here that might clearly be art, but that aren't toys, like for instance the busts of Mao with Mickey Mouse ears. That should fall within the grey area aswell (or even be immediately dismissed), since it's a sculpture rather than a toy.
My opinion is, allow everything, but make it easy to sort through it with clear classifications and such as. People will always have different opinions as to what is art and what is beautiful.
But then again, I'm new here… :) -

I'm not the worlds best photographer, but I figured it was the best way to make sure I'd have the right to add it to the library. If there's a better image out there with an open license, I'd be happy to change it.

@larzor Do you have the Kriegaffe Number 10 as well? It's pretty expensive on ebay!

-

No, I've been trying to get it, but I've given up. I almost bought it when they first came out and they all had the same price tag, but I decided not to for some reason. :(
I only have this one, Liz Sherman and Lobster Johnson from this series. -

Ah, damn! There's nothing worse than knowing you had the chance but didn't grab it! I did the same with the cutest little Nibbler from Futurama once. It was priced around $ 25, but I did just like you. Years later I was forced to pay waaaay more for it on ebay *sigh*.
I've been a hardcore Mignola fan for years, so when I saw these action toys I just had to own them. But again...some years too late, so I had to go with the Rocket Pack Hellboy, which I believe is from series 2 ? -
-
Yeah, way worse than buying something rather pricey and then realise you could have bought it much cheaper if you had just done some research or waited a little :P But there's always new chances to buy stuff at exactly the right time…
What I'm really interested in right now is either one of the 18-inch Hellboys or the special edition Hellboy with the uncensored Herman von Klempt head. I think my chances at aquiring the former is slightly higher :)
Until then I'll have to settle for my Big Blast one. -

Uncensored Herman von Klempt head? You mean with the swastika on his forehead? But he came with the Kriegaffe!! Just looked at mine....and yes, I think it must be censored. The sign looks more like an X than a swastika. Didn't really notice it till now, because I let them stay in the clam shell widow box. Censorship in toys? C'mon Mezco!
P.S. I have the 18-inch of course. ;) -
-

Oh, hope I didn't ruin it for you! I was disappointed when I found out and it's part of the reason why I'm not trying that hard to get a hold of the ape. I guess we're lucky that Liz is still allowed to have a cigarette :P
The 18-inch must look pretty cool. It's on my list, so hopefully I'll get it eventually…

I found some bootlegs of this one on eBay. They're yellow or orange instead of pink and Pitty is smiling, which I thought was kinda funny. It's like they saw the potential of making profit from copying an overpriced designer-toy and selling it for a fraction of the price, but also figured they could aim them to kids or parents as a regular child-friendly toy of a happy kid playing with a cute teddy bear :)
