With a toy like this with no dominate color, I would usually leave it blank. But it looks like the color field is being used to distinguish the different versions.

The colour field is used to group the toys into colour groups when sorting a list view. This is more red than anything else so it is grouped in red. That way when you list toys they are grouped together in similar colours. Lots of people will only collect toys of certain colours. Colours, should be red, blue, green, yellow, black, white, purple, pink etc. Not beige, rainbow, camo, burgundy etc.
I don't make the rules I simply help in force them.
And do not call me simple -

I mostly agree with Dan, but I don't have a problem with color combinations like rainbow, camo, monochrome, etc. As long as it's an established thing that everyone understands. I mean, who has a problem with this:

I would said it's at least Dark Red, but if the majority think is red, red it is! :D -

lol, im pretty certain me and you have had this convo before.. the link you posted directs me to a 2x1 pixel image thats a GIF.
maybe its the fact were in different countries.. idk.. they always change it back though, cause sometimes the pic works, and then sometimes their store is only filled with those 1x1 pixel images..
edit:
for instance, right now.. i can only see all of the amedas, with the exception of 1, i cant seen any tengallons, 1/2 bolos, cant see any wools, formals, or the surprise crab guy. -

Secret Base already had several flocked Obake Dogs, painted by Three Tides Tattoo as well, so I guess it's no big problem to paint on. I think it's pretty cool as it seems to be painted with ink or something and because of the flocking you don't see any lines done by the brush.

It could be airbrushed on.Ive airbrushed flocked models before, but I haven't seen one of these in the flesh so it's hard to tell.

theyre all the same sculpt/platform, im going to take a stab in the dark and say different people uploaded them.. ive seen this happen before ;)
theres only 2 variances of the deadbeet: (regular) dead beet and the baby dead beet
