Y'all need to get one of these. Even if you don't have any other Sergey toys, this stands on its own. It's pretty brilliant. Apart from the beak, it looks just like a life-size human skull. The Godot series might be my favorite thing in my collection. Absurd art named after an absurd play. Sergey, is "the End of the Man" quoting Jacques Derrida?

Similar philosophy/time period as Samuel Beckett.
-
-

Derrida on Rotocasted, well-played, Shankweather! Haven't seen much mention of him since my college days, long, long ago.
Anyway - back to Sergey's extremely well-executed sculpture.
Mine arrived a few days ago, and it exceeded all expectations.
The unglazed bisque was a perfect choice.
It is gorgeous, and yes, it does indeed look like a young human skull (with a beak).
Sergey, thank you so very much for creating this and setting it free in our world! -

Well, I'm not sure if Sergey can do so, but deleting a 100 pieces from your collection isn't that hard, it will only take you a few minutes.
-
Sergey (or another mod) did it already.. and i started with a couple, and it took way too long, id rather make a new acct at that point in time.
i just figured they could wipe it clean fairly easily.. thanks sergey, much appreciated!! (or the other mod who did it!!) -

For some reason I didn't get those GS emails, but I spent healthy 5 minutes erasing your collection from the regular interface.
No problem. -
-
oh, very sorry you had to do it indivually.. if i would have known, i would have just made a new acct! i just figured you guys had some sort of tool that could essentially erase my account.
anyways, i saw your reply on GS.. i chose to sell all of my collection (aside from my formals and two melt monsters), so i could continue to fund my very expensive moutain bike habbit.. if you think toys are expensive, try building a bicycle thats twice the cost of your flippin car!
thanks again Sergey, this place is the best =) -

Would if i could afford it right now.... but got about a million other money prioritys, it'll be months before i can even consider this.

I just popped in to say just how much I am still digging this sculpture. I held it in my hands for a bit yesterday, just staring at it and feeling the texture. This remains one of my most treasured items in my collection, and I'm extremely happy and incredibly lucky to be the custodian of it. Still very well-done, sir, thank you once again for sharing it with the world.

Elegab is like the definition of wild kaiju. It just doesn't get any worse than this. Awesome!

Agreed! It's like the embodiment of Kaiju, with everything coming alive and being crazy. Would love to own this one, there should be more mixed parts Elegab toys.

The sculpt doesn't work very well with the all black color scheme. There's a lot going on and without some more color contrast it just looks like spaghetti. Seeing a better picture with a white background might help with that. But the sculpt itself is pretty silly. A monster coming out of a teddy bear, it's just kind of jokey.
-
-
i will admit this pic is terrible. but ive seen some better pics of him, hes okay. i didnt like it at first, but its growing on me (although im not going to buy it).. there is a fair amount going on though. i personally think he should have used one of his other creatures.. im not a huge fan of the stuff he draws with kids in glass stomachs.
jokey? not a fan of pardees art? its some of my fav -

I didn't know Alex Pardee was a thing until I saw this toy. His art's OK I guess. I'm not a big fan of horror art, and I don't know what he's got against backgrounds, but it's OK.
-
-
so the toy is based on that drawing here, i guess?
http://static.designspiration.net/data/l/658921775090_ppQTOQap_l.jpg
and stephen i just googled a bit around and also noticed his "laziness" towards backgrounds in his artwork...but i like how colorful some of his pieces are - those ones really stick out!
this one for example:

pure acid meltiness ^_^ -

lol, thats kinda a weird thing to bring up.. hes got so much going on in the foreground it doesnt really matter whats going on in the background (imo).. im assuming he doesnt put stuff in his backgrounds cause thats not what he wants you to focus on..? horror art is my thing, i like all things dark, demented, and satanic. soooo maybe its just cause i have an interest in that stuff already (dont believe in religion, listen to satanic death metal, yelling satan at the stupid Jehovah witnesses that come to my door and waste my time, as well as waking me up sometimes, etc)
this is one of my fav ones (movie is awesome too), and look he even put stuff in the background:
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbcfs7WuUp1qzdglao1_1280.jpg
really bummed they didnt choose that for the DVD cover, although i could see why someone would say its not fit for a DVD cover -
12 years ago
Ya. IMO Alex is a genius. I love horror, movies, videos games and of course art. I agree with blindbox in the sense that Alex doesn't need backgrounds, he cleary wants people to focus on his character work. I'm gonna pick this figure up at my local vinyl shop sometime today. I am personally really happy with the piece.

I have been a sculpture for a while now, but I only sculpted using sculpey and super sculpey. How would one make a sculpture using Resin? Any advice would be grand.
-
They aren't sculpted in resin, they're cast. The basic figure can be made of whatever you want I guess, then you make a negative mold where you pour liquid resin into, which then hardens and voilà – you can make an infinite army of your own toys.

Rotocasted vinyl is still the main thing in the toy world. But be careful if you try with the clear ones. Vinyl drips really look awful: http://rotocasted.com/ToyPunk...

what is the best paint to use? I am currently using acrylic. Also, been considering investing in a airbrush. Any and all comments will be appriciated
-
acrylic is widely used on vinyls and resin.. try custom toy union or the kidrobot forums for help.. ive been trying to get some the last couple of months and have been unsuccessful =(
-
I have a fondness for resin art toys, I don't know what it is. Maybe the weight, the texture or the way resin holds detail differently to vinyl. If I could start collecting art toys again I think I'd have a particular focus on resin figures. I just love them very, very much...
-
as do i.. really dont unserstand why some vinyl collectors choose to alienate resin. its great stuff!
-
Resin is boss. However, still love my vinyl. I do love the weight of a resin piece, yet I love the feel of a smooth Japanese vinyl piece...I know that sounds erotic, LOL, but you sofubi lovers know what I mean ;)
I am on a paint quest as well. I like a water-based paint for ease of use/clean-up/thinning for a brush. Yet, I am also experimenting with a paint called Mr. Color... a strongly pigmented paint that goes on thin, dries flat... email me if you like we can talk customizing auryndesign@gmail.com -
11 years ago
auryn- for the acrylics i use, i usually use this stuff called 'pink soap'. it cleans and conditions the brush. it gets all the acrylic off and works very well. check it out if you use a lot of acrylic.. i use about a 50/50 of acrylic and 'graff' paint.. that stuff is so harsh on me brushes that i just use my crappy ones and have to dip em in acetone after im done with em..
